Difference in language is among one of the most obvious barriers between two people, especially when in a new country.
In January of 2019, I was part of a select team to collaborate with Cuban design students at Instituto Superior de Diseno (ISDi). Our mission was to identify an issue and devise a design solution. My team of four chose to create a project that addressed improving communication across all linguistic barriers by designing and branding a game, called COMMUNiGRAPHS!
Client—ISDi, Cuba
Deliverables—Proposal Presentation, 2 Prototypes, Final Presentation
Programs—Adobe Illustrator, Autodesk Inventor
Team Members—Adrián García (ISDi), Karla Puerto (ISDi), Riley (SUNY NP)
Similar to pictogram, COMMUNiGRAPHS! challenges players to use forms other than words to communicate meanings to each other. Each time a card is guessed right, two players are able to step closer to each other. The goal is to gain connections, both mentally and physically (meeting each other in the center).
I was responsible for all card illustrations and our logo design.
